JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A total of 141,912 Duval County voters had cast ballots through Tuesday, Oct. 27, bringing turnout to 21.66%, according to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections. The total includes both early in-person voting and vote-by-mail ballots. Early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Supervisor of Elections reported 14,694 early in-person votes on Tuesday, Oct. 27, the eighth day of early voting. The county's combined ballot total increased by 17,974 from the previous day, when 123,938 votes had been recorded. The reported turnout percentage rose from 18.92% on Monday to 21.66% on Tuesday, an increase of 2.74 percentage points.

The figures come from the Supervisor of Elections' nightly updates for Oct. 26 and Oct. 27, reviewed by Jax Times on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The latest available report covers ballots recorded through the close of early voting Tuesday. It does not include voting activity from Wednesday, Oct. 28, or later dates.

Duval County voting totals through Oct. 27

The Supervisor of Elections publishes nightly figures showing the cumulative number of ballots cast and the reported turnout percentage. The updates also identify the number of early in-person votes cast that day. The two available daily reports show the county's combined total increasing between Monday and Tuesday.

Reporting dateTotal ballots castTurnoutEarly votes that day
Monday, Oct. 26123,93818.92%15,764
Tuesday, Oct. 27141,91221.66%14,694

The figures show that 14,694 voters cast early in-person ballots Tuesday, compared with 15,764 Monday. That represents 1,070 fewer early in-person votes on Tuesday than Monday, based on Jax Times calculations. Despite the lower daily early voting figure, the county's cumulative total continued increasing as the Supervisor of Elections recorded additional ballots.

The difference between the two cumulative totals was 17,974 ballots, while the reported number of early in-person votes Tuesday was 14,694. The cumulative figure includes vote-by-mail ballots as well as early in-person voting, but the supplied nightly figures do not separately identify how many mail ballots were added Tuesday. The difference between those figures should therefore not be treated as a confirmed count of newly processed mail ballots.

Turnout increased 2.74 percentage points in one day

Duval County's reported turnout stood at 18.92% through Monday, Oct. 26, before reaching 21.66% through Tuesday, Oct. 27. Subtracting the two reported percentages produces a 2.74-percentage-point increase. This is a comparison of the county's reported turnout percentages, not a percentage increase in the number of ballots cast.

The county's cumulative ballot count increased from 123,938 to 141,912 during that same reporting period. According to Jax Times calculations, the difference between those figures is 17,974 ballots. Both totals combine early voting and vote-by-mail activity, meaning they are broader than the daily early in-person counts.

The 21.66% figure represents the turnout recorded through Tuesday's reporting cutoff, rather than final turnout for the Nov. 3 election. Additional early voting dates remained on the county's published schedule as of Wednesday, Oct. 28. The figures also precede Election Day, when polling places are scheduled to open at 7 a.m.

Early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1

Duval County began early voting Tuesday, Oct. 20, and scheduled the period to continue through Sunday, Nov. 1. The county established different operating hours for weekdays and weekends during that period. The remaining schedule includes extended weekday hours through Friday, followed by two weekend days with shorter hours.

Remaining dateEarly voting hours
Wednesday, Oct. 287 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 297 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 307 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 319 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 19 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The remaining weekday schedule provides 12 hours of early voting each day from Wednesday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday each have eight scheduled hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The final day of early voting in Duval County is Sunday, Nov. 1, two days before Election Day.

Earlier in the voting period, the Supervisor of Elections scheduled 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. hours from Tuesday, Oct. 20, through Friday, Oct. 23. The first weekend, Oct. 24-25, operated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The current weekday schedule of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. began Monday, Oct. 26, and continues through Friday, Oct. 30.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3

Election Day in Duval County is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. According to the Supervisor of Elections' website, polling places open at 7 a.m. that day. The date follows the conclusion of the county's early voting period on Sunday, Nov. 1.

The Oct. 27 turnout report does not represent a final election total because voting activity remains scheduled after its reporting cutoff. The 141,912 figure includes the ballots recorded through Tuesday's update, not ballots from the remaining early voting days or Election Day. The Supervisor of Elections' subsequent reports will provide later cumulative totals.

The county's election information line is 904-255-VOTE (8683). Jerry Holland serves as Duval County Supervisor of Elections. The office maintains election information and voting updates at duvalelections.gov.

Mail ballot deadlines and overseas voting rules

For domestic voters, the general deadline for the Supervisor of Elections to receive vote-by-mail ballots is 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. The office identified that deadline in its August election information and also specified 7 p.m. Eastern time Nov. 3 for domestic uniformed voters in its Oct. 27 release. The deadline concerns receipt of ballots by the elections office.

Different receipt rules apply to qualifying mailed ballots from overseas voters. According to the Supervisor of Elections' Oct. 27 Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act release, overseas voters' mailed ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 may count if received by Nov. 13, 2026. That later receipt deadline is specific to the overseas voting provisions described by the office.

The county's cumulative turnout reports include vote-by-mail ballots alongside early in-person ballots. The provided Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 updates show the combined total but do not establish the separate mail ballot increase between those dates. As a result, Jax Times has reported the confirmed combined increase without assigning an unverified number to mail voting.

## How we did this Jax Times used the Duval County Supervisor of Elections' nightly voting updates for Oct. 26 and Oct. 27, 2026, retrieved Oct. 28, to report total ballots cast, turnout percentages and daily early in-person counts. We used the office's published early voting schedule, election information and Oct. 27 Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act release for voting hours, dates and mail ballot deadlines. Jax Times calculated the 17,974-ballot increase, the 2.74-percentage-point turnout change and the 1,070-vote difference between the two daily early voting counts; the source for the official figures is the Duval County Supervisor of Elections at duvalelections.gov.
