JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Cajun Crab4 in Jacksonville tops the Jax Times list of 10 top-rated Northeast Florida seafood restaurants, with 4.8 Google stars from 5,179 reviews, the most on the list. Its latest state inspection, an Oct. 21 callback, was marked "Call Back - Complied," though the inspector still noted 4 lower-level violations. Half of the 10 had an inspector recommend an administrative complaint in recent months, a reminder that star ratings and health inspections measure very different things.

The Jax Times compared Google ratings, review counts and Florida inspection records for 10 seafood restaurants in Jacksonville, Orange Park, Atlantic Beach and St. Augustine. The ranking uses Google star ratings pulled in October 2026, with review counts breaking ties. Inspection results come from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and did not affect the order.

No. 1: Cajun Crab's callback

Cajun Crab had an Aug. 21 complaint inspection that ended with a warning. The inspector found 11 violations: 2 high-priority, 2 intermediate and 7 basic. Notes include utensils kept in 88-degree water, which a manager dumped.

The Oct. 21 callback was marked "Call Back - Complied" and found no high-priority violations. It still listed 4 lower-level items, including soda guns at the bar with a mold-like substance that "still needs attention" and torn cooler gaskets. Later visits will show whether they were fixed.

Five complaint recommendations, four clean callbacks

Five of the 10 had an inspector recommend an administrative complaint during recent visits, and four have since had a callback with zero violations. That recommendation means the inspector suggested the state pursue a case, which can lead to a fine. It is not a final ruling.

  • Jax Fish Shrimp and Chicken (No. 3): An Aug. 18 visit found 22 violations, 8 high-priority, including 20 raw fish items thawed inside reduced-oxygen packaging labeled to be opened before thawing. The Oct. 19 callback found zero.
  • Op Fish House & Oyster Bar0 (No. 5): An Oct. 20 visit found 16 violations, 1 high-priority. A second visit that day issued a warning after water was seen coming from the ground near a lift station, with a plumbing company on site, and the Oct. 21 callback found zero.
  • Kingfish Grill0 (No. 6): An Oct. 12 visit found 9 violations, 5 high-priority, including two live flying insects in the kitchen and cut lettuce at 61 degrees in a cooler whose top had been left off. An Oct. 14 callback again recommended a complaint, and the Oct. 22 callback found zero.
  • Broskii Fish & Chicken (No. 7): An Oct. 22 complaint inspection found 19 violations, 6 high-priority, including a bowl used as an ice scoop. The Oct. 23 callback found zero.

The fifth, Sha-Garee's Seafood & More on East 21st Street, got its recommendation on its latest visit, Oct. 22. The inspector found 9 violations, 1 high-priority and 8 basic, including a torn cooler gasket and a gap under the back door. No callback appears in the records yet.

Four 'No Further Action' results

Four places had a latest result of "Inspection Completed - No Further Action," which means they met standards that day. Inspectors can still note violations on those visits. Each record shows the following.

Quick Q&A

Does "No Further Action" mean zero violations? No. All four places with that result had at least 7 violations noted.

Does "administrative complaint recommended" mean a fine? Not necessarily. It's the inspector's recommendation, not a final ruling. High-priority violations, the most serious kind, are counted separately from intermediate and basic ones.

Can results change? Yes. Jax Fish Shrimp and Chicken, Op Fish House, Kingfish Grill and Broskii all went from complaint recommendations to clean callbacks.

Are these the only seafood restaurants in Northeast Florida? No. The Jax Times database lists 164 places with the words "seafood," "fish," "oyster," "crab" or "shrimp" in the name, and 11 are matched to a Google rating. These are the top 10 of those 11.

How we did this

The Jax Times used Google Maps star ratings and review counts pulled in October 2026 and Florida DBPR inspection records from the Jax Times restaurant lookup (jaxtimes.com/restaurants). The list ranks Northeast Florida seafood restaurants with a Google rating in the database by rating, with review count breaking ties. Ratings change daily, and inspection results can change after new visits, so readers should check the lookup for the latest.
