Who owns Jax Times

Jax Times (jaxtimes.com) is owned by Mark Gertjegerdes, who founded the site in 2026 and serves as its editor and web developer and as Director of Digital & Advertising. He also co-owns and edits its sister publication, The Columbus Times in Columbus, Georgia, a community newspaper that has served the Chattahoochee Valley since 1935.

Jax Times is not part of a newspaper chain, a broadcast group, a hedge fund or any larger media company. No political party, campaign, government agency or advocacy group owns any part of it or directs its coverage.

How Jax Times is paid for

Jax Times is free to read, with no paywall and no subscription to buy. It is paid for by advertising from local businesses and by ads placed through Google. Advertisers buy space; they do not buy coverage, and ads and sponsored content are always labeled. The site has not received grants, donations or government money.
